Garlic (allium sativum) has been recognized for over 4,000 years as a cure for conditions and illnesses, including respiratory problems, poor digestion low energy, and parasites. Research in humans has suggested cardiovascular benefits of garlic, including reducing plaque deposits in arteries and lowering blood pressure. Garlic’s antibacterial and antiseptic properties were routinely used by the ancient Chinese herbalists, as well as the soldiers of Rome.*

Onion (allium cepa) contains compounds that have potential anti-inflammatory, anti-cholesterol, anticancer, and antioxidant properties. Onions are high in minerals, as well as in vitamins C and B.*

Ginger (zingiber officinale) has been known for its stomach-settling properties and has been used for centuries as a remedy for nausea.  It is used in China to combat the common cold, as well as for treating arthritis, rheumatism, and inflammatory conditions.  It has analgesic, sedative, and antibacterial properties.* 

Horseradish (armoracia rusticana) has been cultivated since antiquity. In Greek mythology, the Oracle at Delphi told Apollo that it was worth its weight in gold. It was used medicinally by the Greeks and Egyptians, and was discussed by Pliny, Cato, and other ancient herbalists.* 

Habanero (capsicum chinense) has been cultivated since 6,500 BCE.  Besides its culinary uses, habaneros  are very high in capsaicin, a compound used as an analgesic for pain relief. These peppers are very high in vitamins C and A.*

Turmeric (curcuma longa) has been used for thousands of years as a remedy for stomach and liver ailments. It has antiseptic properties and is high in curcumin, which is believed to have a wide range of biological effects including anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, anti-tumor, antibacterial, and antiviral  properties.* 

Oregano (Origanum vulgare) recognized by Hippocrates as an antiseptic as well as a cure for GI, respiratory, and nervous system disorders.  It has proven to be a powerful antioxidant and has antimicrobial properties effective against some food borne pathogens.*

Kombucha is a symbiotic culture of yeast and bacteria which produces a complex array of nutrients.  Kombucha vinegar (acetic acid) has been used for millennia as an antiseptic and to promote a healthy digestive tract. Vinegar has been shown to lower blood pressure, manage blood sugar, and reduce hunger. Kombucha vinegar is rich in healthy probiotic bacteria.
